Socorro Islands: There are many places where you can dive with giant manta rays. But there is only place in the world where the mantas are exceptionally friendly and chose to interact closely and intimately with scuba divers. That place is Socorro Island in the Revillagigedo Archipelago where mantas provide an emotionally charged experience and an underwater photographers paradise. This particular population of animals have always chosen to get extraordinarily close and personal with divers. We don't know why. The scientists don't know why. But we love it and invite you to join us!!

Sea of Cortez: Fall is the ideal time of year to dive the Sea of Cortez with the best visibility, warmest water and calmest seas of the season. It is always exciting to see hammerhead sharks and they usually appear at Gordo Bank in early September and the El Bajo seamount by mid-October. Whale sharks are typically present off El Mogote and may provide an unforgettable ending to your trip. The colony of California sea lions at Los Islotes are quite famous and will entertain you for hours with their playful underwater antics. Moray eels are so numerous at certain sites that we joke about them living in "moray condos". There are lots of turtles in these waters and you will likely spot large schools of jacks, tunas, lots of small rays, garden eels and species of fish too numerous to count. Invertebrate life includes stony corals, seafans, gorgonians and yellow colonial tubastrea corals. Unforgettable topside experiences may include watching whalesharks choosing to approach the Nautilus Explorer and use the side of the boat as a backboard to feed on plankton, dolphins, pilot whales and the absolutely spectacular starlit Mexican sky at night.

Solmar V
The Solmar V is a true four-season live-aboard that takes advantage of weather patterns to provide optimal diving year-round. We journey 250 miles south of Los Cabos into the eastern Pacific Ocean to the Revillagigedos Islands-more commonly known as the Socorro Islands-to dance with the Giant Pacific manta ray, cavort with dolphins, dodge seven different species of sharks and thrill to an occasional lucky interaction with the migrating humpback whale population. This is remote, adventure diving at its finest. The Sea of Cortez is one of the youngest and most fertile seas on earth, containing over 850 species of reef fish, as well as the famous flying mobulas and an assortment of schooling pelagics and tropicals. We've been diving the Sea of Cortez for over 25 years, and we call it home. In August and September, we are based in Ensenada, Mexico and follow the ultimate apex predator to Guadalupe Island, 180 miles offshore. This is rapidly becoming the world's best location to dive in custom-built shark cages with great white sharks. Because we use hookah instead of scuba tanks on these trips, you do not need to be a certified scuba diver to enjoy the rush of going eyeball to eyeball with a 16' great white shark.
